Quick
Applesauce Cinnamon Bread
This
is the time of year to find great varieties of apples – visit your local
orchard or farmer’s market and try something new. This is an easy quick bread
from the folks at King Arthur and tastes best with homemade applesauce, but
unsweetened jarred sauce will work too. I like to toast it the next day and
spread with cream cheese and thinly sliced apples.
1
cup (7 ounces) sugar
2
large eggs
1/2
cup vegetable oil
1
1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2
cup (2 ounces) King Arthur 100% White Whole Wheat Flour
1
cup (4 1/4 ounces) King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
1/4
teaspoon baking powder
1/2
teaspoon baking soda
2
teaspoons cinnamon
1/2
teaspoon allspice
1/4
teaspoon nutmeg
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/2
cup (1 3/4 ounces) rolled oats (plus a few for sprinkling)
3/4
cup (5 ounces) applesauce
